Those "Special" moments in time where everything is just "Sweet!"
Often a project comes along that is just plain fun. On this page we will be
posting photos and short summaries of such things as the occasional concert,
remote recording session, or other odd bit of work that we particularly enjoyed.
Often there will be the odd job that is just outside of our normal work but was
something we felt we could do and that had a large "fun factor" due to the type
of work or the people we got to meet.
The pages that follow are of various installations or particular types of work
that we have done over time that we feel best represent our standards of
excellence and workmanship.

200 Year Old Churches

This was the most interesting installation we scheduled for 2007, and it
involved cleaning up the wiring they used for their sound system, and instaling
a speaker cluster... I make mention of it here, although it in fact has it's
own gallery page which follows after this section.

The New York International Fringe Festival (FringeNYC)
This was a small project that had to be done quickly in order to get the
client out of a pinch. The New York International Fringe Festival is a group
who's purpose is to promote the arts and artists in theater. They also hold
workshops and do a whole lot more. Go check them out at:
http://www.frngenyc.com
This wasn't exactly a sound installation but the clients are providing a worthwhile
service and since very often our installation work involves network cabling we
have plenty of experience in this area.
So, what they needed was temporary internet access to a retail space in SOHO
they would only be renting for a month. No ISP's would be able to set them up
in the short time span required (a day or so), so we stepped in to wire them up.
Or not...
We leased bandwidth from a local merchant's DSL connection, to which we added a
second router configured with an alternate gateway address to function as the
DHCP server for the client as well as provide some isolation. We stacked a
wireless G access point onto that to broadcast an encrypted signal to an
intermediate location two buildings down, where we installed a wireless G
repeater from LinkSys. The client's location where we installed a second access
point to feed ethernet to their six computers via a switch was located four
buildings down the block and was recieving a very strong signal. Running a
wire from one location to the other, for reasons of the distance and the
temporary nature of the installation, was impractical.
A final check of IP addresses, and network settings, and they had internet
access. Perhaps we should have been an ISP? (Only kidding!) We got them up
and running in all of four hours, a short job that was again, lot's of fun
since we got to meet some very interesting people who do some very interesting
things.
July 4th week, 2006
The first week of July 2006, we had the opportunity to do something I personally
have not done for a while. Dr. Felix Valentin is a good friend for many years and
minister at a church in Paterson NJ, and he asked me to manage the sound system
assembly, set up, tear down, and technical requirements for an event he had
planned in July. Of course when I discovered he was talking of an old fashioned
tent revival that would run the entire week, memories of the sort of thing I
used to do when I was younger all came back. I would handle the mix during the
day and evening services, oversee the technical crew, record the event, and make
sure that basically everything went smoothly in the sound and technical department.
It was a blast!-On top of which, I had the opportunity to reaquaint myself with
many old friends in those circles such as Evangelist Ruben Tavares, and
singer/songwriter Yadira Coradín. On the fourth, they crowned the event
with a community Bar-B-Que, and I am terribly afraid that I gained more than a
few pounds that week!
